It's funny how becoming a parent changes the way you look at ordinary things.
Something as simple as a baby blanket or a tiny footie suddenly becomes a decision you spend hours thinking about. You start reading labels, comparing fabrics and wondering what will feel the softest against your baby's delicate skin. That's exactly what happened to me.
At first, I was simply looking for baby clothes that felt soft and looked beautiful. But the more I prepared for my daughter's arrival, the more questions I found myself asking. What fabric is actually best for a newborn? Does it matter what type of cotton it is? Can one fabric really be gentler than another? The more I searched for answers, the more I realized there was so much I had never thought about before.
Like many first-time moms, I wanted to make the safest choices I could for my baby. I quickly learned that newborn skin is incredibly delicate, and because babies spend so much of their day sleeping, being cuddled and wrapped in blankets, the fabric touching their skin matters more than I had ever imagined. Before all of this, I honestly thought cotton was just... cotton. I had no idea there were different varieties, different fiber lengths, and different qualities. That's when I first came across Peruvian Pima cotton. The more I learned about it, the more it made sense to me.
Peruvian Pima cotton is known for its extra-long fibers, which create a fabric that is incredibly soft, hypoallergenic and durable. Those long fibers also help reduce roughness and pilling over time, allowing the fabric to stay soft wash after wash. But what mattered most to me wasn't just how it felt. I wanted fabrics that were gentle against a newborn's delicate skin, breathable enough to help keep my baby comfortable and made with quality I could trust. That completely changed the way I looked at baby clothing. I wasn't just choosing something cute anymore. I was choosing what would be touching my baby's skin almost every hour of the day.
Looking back, I don't think my daughter cared whether her outfit matched perfectly. She cared that she was warm. Comfortable. And cozy.
As parents, we can't control everything. But we can choose the little things that help our babies feel safe and comfortable.
For me, fabric became one of those little things. That experience stayed with me long after my daughter was born. In many ways, it became one of the reasons Baby Fil exists today.
When we started creating our collection, I already knew what mattered most to me.
I wanted every piece to feel incredibly soft, gentle and comfortable from the very first wear. Because becoming a mom taught me something I never expected. Sometimes, the smallest details become the most important ones.
And for me, fabric was one of them.
With love,
