I don't know about you, but I have a hard time throwing away certain things from when my daughter was a baby.
Her hospital bracelet, the first ultrasound picture, even that tiny hat she received at the hospital. They're such simple things, and probably wouldn't mean much to anyone else, but to me, they bring back so many memories.
It's funny how something as small as a hospital bracelet can remind you of an entire day. The excitement, the nerves, and that feeling of finally holding your baby for the first time. And that's why I love the idea of having a memory box. 😊
What Can You Keep in a Baby Memory Box?
There's really no right or wrong answer. It's about keeping the things that mean something to you. Here are a few ideas:
-
The first ultrasound picture. For many of us, it's the first picture we ever had of our baby.
-
The hospital bracelet. Such a tiny thing, but one that brings back so much.
-
The first hat. I still have a special place in my heart for the simple hospital hat my daughter wore.
-
The going-home outfit. The outfit your baby wore when you finally brought them home.
-
First photographs. Those early pictures when everything was so new.
-
A favorite baby blanket. Especially one your baby used during those first months.
-
A first birthday card. Or a handwritten note from someone special.
-
The first tooth. If that's something you'd like to save.
You don't have to keep everything. Sometimes just a few things can bring back more memories than an entire box full of baby clothes.
Why I Love the Idea of a Keepsake Box
When you're in the middle of those first weeks with a newborn, you don't necessarily think about how quickly everything will change. And then one day, the clothes don't fit anymore. The little hat looks impossibly small. You look at an old photograph and wonder how your baby was ever that tiny. I think that's what makes these things so special. They're reminders of a time that went by much faster than we expected.
And years later, I imagine sitting down with my daughter, opening the box together, and showing her some of the things we saved from when she was born.
A Second Life for Our Baby Fil Gift Box
When we chose the packaging for Baby Fil newborn gift sets, I wanted the gift box to be something parents wouldn't feel they needed to throw away. Our magnetic gift boxes are sturdy enough to be reused and one of my favorite ideas is turning them into a baby's first keepsake box.🎀
Once the footie, hat and blanket have been taken out and worn, the box can become a place for those first ultrasound pictures, hospital bracelets, photographs and other things you want to hold on to. I love the idea that a box which originally arrived as a newborn gift could eventually hold memories from that baby's first days.

One Day, You'll Be Glad You Kept Them
Of course, not every baby item needs to be saved. And not every parent wants to keep the same things. But if there's something you find yourself hesitating to throw away, maybe that's a good reason to keep it. You never know which little things will mean the most to you years from now.
And sometimes, all it takes is opening a box to remember a day you never want to forget.
With love,
Mariana
