Why We Chose Timeless Designs Over Trends | Baby Fil

Classic European-inspired newborn outfit in Peruvian Pima cotton by Baby Fil.

When we were creating our very first collection, I remember spending hours looking at baby clothes online. Some were full of bright prints, some had cartoon characters, and some were very trendy.

I'm sure many parents loved them, but every time I imagined a newborn wearing them, I kept coming back to the same thought:

Would I still love this outfit years from now?

I also realized that being born and raised in Europe had influenced me more than I ever expected. I found myself missing that timeless, gentle style of baby clothing I grew up seeing classic collars, soft colors and simple details. Without even thinking about it, I kept coming back to those same ideas while creating Baby Fil. Looking back, I think I was simply trying to bring a little piece of that feeling into our collection.
I wasn't only thinking about those first few weeks after birth. I was thinking about the photos I would look at years later, the tiny footie folded away in a memory box and the little hat I wouldn't be able to throw away. I wanted Baby Fil to feel the same way.

I didn't want someone to look back at their baby's first photos and think, "Oh, that pattern was popular back then." I wanted them to look at their baby. That's why we chose soft colors, classic details, and simple designs that don't need to follow trends. Babies never go out of style, and I wanted their clothes to feel the same.

When my daughter was born, I realized something very quickly - newborns don't care what's fashionable or what's trending. They care about being warm, comfortable and close to the people who love them. As parents, I think we sometimes need that reminder too.

The first weeks go by so quickly. The outfit you carefully picked for the ride home from the hospital will soon be too small. The tiny footie that looked a little too big on the first day suddenly doesn't fit anymore. One day you'll fold it away, and years later you'll find it again. In an instant, all those memories come rushing back.
That's why we never wanted Baby Fil to be about trends. We wanted it to be about those moments that become memories.

Trends come and go. New colors, new prints and new styles will always appear. But the memories of bringing your baby home, holding them in your arms for the first time and looking back at those first photos never change.

If our designs still make you smile years from now when you open your baby's memory box, then we've created exactly what we hoped for.
